Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN)

Introduction

• Indians farmers usually faced issue after the end of the crop cycle to meet their financial need for next crop.
• To overcome this issue, the Indian Government has announced the PM KISAN scheme in 2018
• Under this scheme, the eligible farmers will get the assistance of Rs 6000 in a financial year.
• This assistance will be provided in three equal instalment of Rs 2000 each.
• With the help of this assistance, farmer may fulfill some of their needs to that arises after every crop cycle.
• Instalment will be credited directly to the farmers account via DBT mode.
• By Feb 2024, 11 crore farmers had received assistance from the scheme, with the government transferring 2.80 lakh crore rupees.
• Farmers eligible for the scheme may register for the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme online, offline, via CSC Centre.
• You can also apply for the PM KISAN scheme through its dedicated mobile app.

Benefits of Scheme

• Under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme the farmers will get certain benefits as mentioned here:
  • Financial benefits of Rs 6000/- in three equal instalments will be provided.
  • Assistance credited directly to the beneficiary account.

Eligibility Criteria

• All land holding farmer families are eligible to avail the benefits under this PM KISAN scheme except the following categories:
  • All Institutional Land holders
  • One or more member of the farmers families belong to the following categories:
    • Former and present holders of constitutional posts
    • All serving or retired officers
    • employees of Central/ State Government Ministries /Offices/Departments its field units
    • Central or State PSEs and Attached offices
    • Autonomous Institutions under Government as well as regular employees of the Local Bodies (Excluding Multi Tasking Staff / Class IV/Group D employees).
    • All Persons who paid Income Tax in last assessment year
    • Professionals like Doctors,
    • Engineers,
    • Lawyers,
    • Chartered Accountants,
    • Architects registered with Professional bodies and carrying out profession by undertaking practices
    • All superannuated/retired pensioners whose monthly pension is Rs.10,000/-or more (Excluding Multi Tasking Staff / Class IV/Group D employees
    • Former and present Ministers/State Ministers
    • former/present Members of Lok Sabha/ Rajya Sabha/State Legislative Assemblies/ State Legislative Councils,
    • former and present Mayors of Municipal Corporations,
    • former and present Chairpersons of District Panchayats.

Documents Required

• Beneficiary aiming to get the benefit of the scheme must possess the documents listed below:
  • Aadhar Card
  • Voter ID
  • Bank account details like IFCS Code
  • Address details
  • Date of birth
  • Farm-size in Hectare
  • Survey Number
  • Khasra Number
  • SC/ST Certificate (if any)
  • NREGA Job Card or any other identification documents issued by Central/State/UT Governments or their authorities.

How to apply

• Applicants can submit their PM Kisan Application through three ways, which are online, offline and via CSC Centre.

Online Application

• Beneficiary may submit their Pradhan Mantri Kisan Saman Nidhi Application online from PM KISAN Website.
• Select 'New Farmer Registration' on the home page.
• Select rural and urban farmers as per your eligibility.
• Submit your Aadhaar and mobile number.
• Select State from the list and press the OTP tab for user authentication.
• Enter the OTP on the space provided to proceed.
• Provide the key details asked in the application form.
  • State,
  • District,
  • Sub-District/Block,
  • Village,
  • Farmer Name,
  • Type of Identity –Aadhaar Number
  • In case Aadhaar not available, Aadhaar enrolment number with any other ID proof like Voter ID etc,
  • Gender,
  • Category,
  • IFSC Code,
  • Bank Account Number.
  • Father name,
  • Address,
  • Mobile Number,
  • Date of Birth/Age,
  • Farm-Size in Hectare,
  • Survey Number,
  • Khasra Number
• Once the details is submitted, applicants may review their application form and submit it.
• Upon registration, the beneficiary will get the temporary registration ID of the farmers.
• This ID can be used to check the status of the submitted application form.
• Post successful authentication process, the applicants will be informed via SMS.
• Next due instalment under the scheme will be credited via DBT

Offline Application

• At basic level, the beneficiary may submit their PM KISAN Application offline.
• For this, they may obtain the application form from the Patwari.
• Submit the filled in application form along with key documents.
• Your documents and application form will go through verification.
• Post successful completion of verification, you will receive an SMS on your provided mobile number.
• Thereafter, the assistance of next due instalment will be credited directly to your bank account.

Apply through CSC

• For the convenience of the farmers, the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmer welfare partnered with Common Service Centres.
• With the help of these CSC centres farmers may submit their PM Kisan Application without any trouble.
• They need to contact the VLE of nearest CSC Centres.
• The CSC will register the farmers with the provided details.
• For registration, the CSC will charge nominal registration fee.
• The submitted application will sent to the Nodal Officer for approval.

PM Kisan e-KYC

• It is important for the farmers to complete their OTP based e-KYC.
• One who have not done their e-KYC are not eligible for the benefits.
• For this, they need to visit the PM Kisan Website.
• On the home page, select the e-KYC tab.
• Enter your Aadhaar number.
• Submit the OTP received on the mobile number linked with Aadhaar.
